About “Kyoto indigo dyeing (Kyoai)” Experience
This workshop offers a 100% natural indigo dyeing experience using “Kyoto indigo (Kyoai)" for both children and adults.
Since only natural materials are used, children and people with sensitive skin can participate with peace of mind.
The dyeing experience is available from spring to fall.
We hope that you will experience the joy of dyeing with our dyeing process, which is fermented only with home-grown indigo dye (sukumo) and wood ashes.

- Do I need an appointment?
Priority is given to those who have made a reservation.
On days when there is no reservation, we often go to another field or have a meeting, so it is certain to make a reservation.

- Do you have anything to bring?
no. If it is a product prepared in the experience menu, we have everything you need, so you can come empty-handed.
If you have something you want to bring in and dye, feel free to bring it.

- Can children also experience it?
yes. The craftsmen will carefully support you, so children over the age of 3 can enjoy the experience.

- Do your hands and clothes get dirty?
yes. Rubber gloves are provided so that your hands and clothes will not get dirty or stained.
It will be water work, so if you are worried about it, we recommend that you come in clothes that you don't mind getting dirty.

yes. There is no cost other than the experience price of the indigo dyeing experience menu.

- Can I take the dyed items home on the same day?
yes. Basically, you can take home the products that you have dyed in the experience menu on the same day.

yes. Any natural material such as cotton, linen, or silk can be used.

yes. You can ask us to bring your own items, or you can dye them yourself.
In the case of a request, we will ask for your request and provide an estimate each time, so we will accept it as a semi-order outsourced dyeing by a craftsman.

About the Kyoto indigo dyeing experience, it will be plain dyeing and tie-dyeing.
In the botanical dyeing experience, you can experience traditional dyeing techniques such as stencil dyeing, itajime, rokets, and tsutsugaki. In the plant dyeing experience, you can also choose Kyoto indigo dyeing using techniques.

- How much time do I need for Plant dyeing experience?
Unlike Kyoto indigo dyeing experience, plant dyeing will be dyed in one day.
It's about 9 am-15 pm.

It varies depending on the dye used, but it will be 20,000 yen to 23,000 yen.
